Whether you are tired of being 'skinny' or you just want to pack on a few solid pounds of mass, it's good to know how to build muscle quickly.

In this article I would like to share with you a simplified system you can use to add a few pounds of muscle to your frame. Since one little article does not allow us enough time together to go into full detail, we'll stick to the very basics - and get started right now.

First of all, if you expect to build muscle quickly, you need to consider what you are taking in. The old expression 'you are what you eat' is actually quite true. To build muscle quickly, you must take in enough protein for your body to work with as it repairs the damage you do in the gym.

Without the building blocks - your body lacks the resources to properly repair itself and going to the gym is pointless. Eat an healthy supply of lean beef (I prefer steak), chicken and fish to get all of the high quality proteins you need.

Supplementation is also important as it helps your body make proper use of the foods you are taking in. There are many guides available on this, and once again we don't have the time, so I'll leave the nutritional supplements for you to learn later.

It's time to hit the gym.

Remember, we are here to build muscle quickly. So, of course, you are going to do heavy weight training. A very basic routine is all you really need to begin packing on the pounds, but you must focus on using more and more weight.

To trigger your muscles into fast growth you must first show the body a need to build muscle quickly. Lifting heavier weights will tear more of the fibers in the muscles. Then the body repairs and reinforces those fibers - making them thicker and stronger to handle the load you are forcing upon it.

You will have to push yourself - but not so far that you end up hurting yourself. Injuries are never fun and only slow down your growth. Work hard, but work smart.

Finally, you need to get lots of rest so your body has time to repair itself. During this time your body calls your construction crew into action. They repair and rebuild all of those torn muscle fibers while you are at rest - so your days off are great times to practice the fine art of the couch potato. Be lazy and drink lots of water.

As I said, in the article we only had time to cover very basic info - yet when combined with a weight training plan - you now know how to build muscle quickly.
